Why I Became A Financial Advisor

By Scott McCord, AAMS®, BFA™
Sometimes a career journey is full of twists and turns, and sometimes you just know the right path to take. I fall into the second category. I realized early on that my interest in the stock market and passion for financial matters could lead to a fulfilling career.
With that simple impetus, I became a financial advisor so I could make a difference in people’s lives. With my knowledge, experience, and commitment to my clients, I am able to help them feel confident not just about their financial future, but about the rest of their lives too.
Getting Started
I first entered the financial industry over 20 years ago through the banking world, quickly rising through the ranks from bank teller to loan processor to commercial loan assistant. After almost a decade, I decided to move away from the retail side of finance to pursue a role where I could develop long-term relationships with clients and guide them through the myriad of financial obstacles, decisions, and opportunities they face throughout their lives. I earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and accounting and co-owned a financial advising firm for over 10 years. With all this experience under my belt, I started to develop a clearly defined vision and mission for how I wanted to serve my clients and help improve their lives. Thus, Anthem Financial was born.
Fast-Forward To Today
Now, as founder and Investment Advisor Representative, I spend my days helping my clients discover their values and aligning them with their financial plan so that they can reach their goals and pursue their dreams with confidence. My Accredited Asset Management (AAMS®) and Behavioral Financial Advisor™ (BFA™) certifications give me the foundation I need to guide my clients through the ups and downs of their financial lives as well as keep them focused on their financial goals, both for the short term and long term.
Client-Centered Focus
It is my joy to come to work every day and serve my clients. I love seeing the lightbulb come on when they realize what their values are and that living in alignment with those values is the ultimate driver to them achieving their unique goals and outcomes. What it comes down to is this: When my clients succeed, I succeed; when my clients are fulfilled, I am fulfilled.
